Taare Zameen Par

Aamir Khan delivered it again but as a director. Its an awesome movie with great screen play, direction, acting and lyrics.

Kudos to Darsheel Safary for his life like acting. I could relate his acts to many kids I have acquaintance with.

The bonding between the kid and his mother was depicted so neatly using simple lyrics through the song Mere Maa (my favorite song, if a kid's soul can speak would have been the same song).

Its close to picture perfect, will recommend this movie to everyone.

Heartbreaking week

Last week has been a heart breaker for many reasons. Just returned from Diwali vacation, and was shocked by the outcome of RIF. Watched the movie Happy Days, enjoyed it a lot.

In the end, after entertaining us for years, Yellow Pages decided to stop airing Amrutam. My only favorite Telugu TV serial. It so disappointing to hear this news. As far as I could re-collect, I enjoyed the following episodes a lot

- No Happy Days
- Parody of Premiste (donno the title)
- MCH related
- Telugu classes

T20 - Dream seris so far

I don't care about the result of today's final. It has been a fairy tail kind of journey in the inagural T20 for India. I enjoyed it a lot, though many of the matches were exiting, only the matches involving India ended up the best. vs Pakistan, Eng, SA, and Aus all were a suspense till the end.

Though Pakistan has a good bowling attack, India seem to have an edge over Pak in batting. Indian bowlers done a tremendous job. My man of the match against SA were R.P Singh and Yuvi, where as the the semis should have been shared by Sreesanth and Yuvi. Harbajan impressed one and all with his clever bowling, so is Yuvi's superficial form at the right time .

I am a bit worried about Joginder Sharma, he might be the key in the finals.... Final would sway India's way if he bowls like he did in the last over vs Aus.

** So far India never lost a game to Pak in any form of World Cup

Nothing short of a Thriller

During my return journey from Warangal (on 2nd Sept) we encountered a situation which was nothing short of a suspense movie. Myself and Kranthi boarded the bus earlier than usual at Hanamkonda, we had a train to catch at Hyderabad at 8.40 in the evening...

We were inching close to Hyderabad (almost 35 km away). Suddenly we found a huge traffic jam on the highway, reason being a lorry broke down on a small bridge completely blocking the road. Traffic kept on growing with each passing minute and it took almost 2 hrs to get the traffic cleared... and those 2hrs were our buffer time for such eventualities :-(

In the end we missed our train by 4 mins and had to take a rough journey to Pune by Bus

During the break on the road, I have taken these pics with my mobile.. the sky was amazing.

3rd Barcamp Pune

Held at Persistent Systems, Pune on July 7th, 2007 http://barcamp.org/BarCampPune. It's my first ever barcamp, found it interesting and useful.

A real brief of the sessions I have attended

- First session was on online TV guide for Indian television by codewalla.com. These guys were one of the event sponsors. It was a nice and interactive session and they seem to got a good and useful feedback from the room.

- Rapid prototyping with PyQt: To demo something quickly, choose a set of tools using which one can directly start working on the demo rather worrying about the intricacies of using the tools themselves. As per the speaker, python bridges the semantic gap between what we want to develop and what python as a tool has to offer.

- Open Source Education: Freeman Murray, presented his work in promoting open source education for school children in India. He captures lectures from good teachers and makes copies of those media and distributes them across other schools with the aim of improving the quality of education.

- Registering companies: This topic is presented by a lawyer who works for a consultancy. As per him its better to register a company with US due to various reasons/benefits, bureaucracy, taxation, time delays, service, respect/brand name etc.

- Tools for Startups/small teams: This was slightly offbeat, ended up being discussing the tech sites to read/watch daily for news updates, tools required/used for tracking reported issues, efficiently tying things associated with issues, managing resources etc

This session resulted in the following pic

Amazing story

All one need to get noticed is will power, and the ability to execute.

Over the weekend I have read the success story of Nimmagadda Prasad (Eenadu Weekly Telugu Magazine dated 3rd June 2007). He neither had the best brain or best degree, but his zeal got him what he wanted. Now people are looking at him in awe as the Fastest wealth creator in Indian pharma space

His ability in identifying the best resources, and his courage fetched him the wealth. A partly borrowed investment of Rs 3 core resulted in Rs 500+ cores of personal wealth 6 years down the line. That is truly amazing.

Bob Nelson, the author of Please Don't Just Do What I Tell You! Do What Needs To Be Done says that, each and every person should try stretching ones role beyond the assigned and should use ones discretion in deciding the course of action. This habit will let us be prepared against challenges (Courtesy Suresh Maridi ).

Nimmagadda Prasad thought in similar lines and decided to join a startup Vorin Labs. He believed in growing along with a small company as it provides a good platform in expanding ones skills in diverse aspects of the business. He used his discretion in buying Heren Drugs, a loss making company with good R & D infrastructure, and the result is apparent now.

Its not only his personal wealth, but his contribution to the nation in form of employment generation is tremendous. I always adore such people.

Can Indian team make it to 2nd round?

17th March, what a day for Ireland and Bangladesh. Bangla front line bowlers did win the match for them, they were brilliant with the ball and in the filed. They deservingly won the match, kudos to them..

Of course we still have a negligible change to enter the 2nd round. With the loss to Bangla all of our players might get awakened, and might be planning to thrash Bermuda on 19th to keep their hopes alive.

Unfortunately Pakistan exited too soon, and people who have bought (in case) tickets for 15th April expecting India vs Pakistan now may enjoy a match of minnows :-).

The only solace with Pakistan's exit is, we can carry over the clean world cup record against Pakistan for 4 more yrs :-).

off the record:
India won their opening match twice in 1983 and 2003, in both cases they reached the finals.

Some interesting stuff(credit should go to the source):

For all Die Hard India Fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. Liverpool crowned Champions of Europe
3. Australia lost the Ashes
4. Pope Died
2 years later will India win the world Cup ?????

Double your fun

Here goes my WC 2007 Predicion.

Watching the boring, and matches involving minnows were never this good. I joined the fantasy league with team name 11Maverics. This virtual game added a new dimension to the way we enjoy cricket, it added lot of spice to all the matches. Suresh (my roomie) was never so interested even in big matches, but he saw it till the end, enjoyed it and cheered for Sri Lankans (I should say his players from his virtual team) against Bermuda.

There is a lot of fun, anxiety, and agony when ever the player from my virtual team performs well/badly. Some times its a mixed reaction where one my players wins the points over another player from my team (while playing against each other) mostly the net would be gloomy.

Its always fun cajoling, and teasing Suresh in one or the other way. We forced him to select a mediocre team (with the likes of Kallis - whom he hates anyway) rather letting him identify a team of Gems :-) .

I can guess the comments :-), if any

If we belive in patterns

Bangladesh and Australia should be the finalists of WC 2007. Why?

Last 3 world cup finals were played between Australia and Asian Country

1996: Australia Vs Sri Lanka
1999: Australia Vs Pakistan
2003: Australia Vs India

Logically Bangladesh is the remaining Asian country which fits the above pattern... :-)
Bangladesh could be India of 1983.

Note: Bangladesh shocked New Zealand in their preparation match.

Truely biased

Nibus has threatened BCCI over the live feed sharing issue with Doordarshan. I feel pity for Nibus (or any private player) who invests such a huge money ($612m) and have to share their profits for nothing. Govt decision seems one sided, if they consider that any sporting action involving India is of National importance, they should pay the content provider just like the way they subsidize other commodities. The Gov't action is kind of discouraging business in India.

Finally the worst part is: Doordarshan gets the free feed, airs their own adds and fill their coffers while the Nibus guys watches helplessly.

Eagerly waiting for the Big Event - CWC 2007

Last 6 - 8 months been a roller coaster for all the ICC teams. Suddenly the equation seemed to change with Australia loosing 3 matches in a row, and at this point they are on the brink of another defeat in the hands of New Zealand (1st ODI).

Australia no more seems to be the sole favorite . Other teams are shaping up well. Favorite team is still fuzzy to me. SA seems to be in a good form, as is Sri Lanka. India seems to be struggling a bit to find 11 fit players (I am not considering the form :-) ).

It's hard to believe that last world cup was held 3 yrs ago, those memories are still fresh but eagerly waiting for the big show. During the last world cup, I chose the timing of next (this) world cup to be a milestone in my life (and is still a milestone :-( ).

I want to bet on only one guy, it's "Chris Gayle".

Well the logo is out, days are rolling fast, teams are padding up. Hope this event will result in some good tight matches.
